About Leyland Cypress
Leyland Cypress is a popular privacy tree that is fast-growing and well adapted to the Pacific Northwest. Much like the Excelsa Cedar, these trees tend to grow wider and taller than the Emerald Green and are much faster growing. One of the benefits of the Leyland Cypress is you can either start them small and let them grow or have larger trees planted for more immediate privacy. Leyland Cypress also allows for a nice rectangular privacy hedge.

- Mature Height: Up to 60 ft
- Mature Width: Up to 25 ft

- Soil: Well-drained; will do ok in acid soil, alkaline soil.
- Growth Rate: Rapid, up to 4' a year, all depending on the growing conditions
- Instant Privacy Use: Fast-growing, larger barrier. Plan for growth and avoid power lines
- Instant Privacy Spacing: 4', 6' or 8' centers (trunks of each tree are 4',6', or 8' apart). For maximum privacy, these may be placed closer
- Watering: We recommend these be watered carefully through the first spring/summer especially as newly-planted tree. Note that not much growth occurs the first year as the tree is initially develops its root system.
- Comments: Leyland Cypress are unimpressive when young, however, as they mature, they fill in nicely and become excellent privacy trees. Also, these can vary greatly in their fullness.
